Belt Grading System

The Eastside grading system has 7 levels of ranks, each denoted by different colored belts.

Each belt has its own individual requirements for an arm wrestler to achieve before moving on to the next rank.

Under normal circumstances, individuals cannot skip belt grades aside from exceptional circumstances. Skipping belts can only be done at the discretion of the Eastside head coach.

White Belt

The entry-level belt for Eastside arm wrestlers. All pullers will receive a white belt on their first lesson with Eastside Arm Wrestling.

The white belt symbolizes a novice-level arm wrestler who is still learning the basics of arm wrestling.

Yellow Belt

Eastside arm wrestlers will automatically achieve this belt after 12 in-person coaching sessions.

​

The yellow belt symbolizes an arm wrestler who is familiar with the basic fundamentals of arm wrestling and is able to keep themselves safe at the arm wrestling table.

Green Belt

The entry-level belt for Eastside arm wrestlers pursuing competitive arm wrestling. Yellow belt holders will receive a green belt after competing at their first *local-level tournament.

The green belt symbolizes an arm wrestler's first step into the competitive arm wrestling scene.

​

*Local-level competitions include competitions that are not "Nationals" or smaller overseas competitions with only 2 countries involved.

Blue Belt

Competitive Eastside arm wrestlers will receive this belt after placing top-3 at a *local-level tournament in their respective category.

​

The blue belt symbolizes an experienced arm wrestler who is able to demonstrate sufficient strength and skill that is above most of their peers in competition.

​

*Local-level competitions include competitions that are not "Nationals" or smaller overseas competitions with only 2 countries involved.

Purple Belt

Competitive Eastside arm wrestlers will receive this belt after they achieve a top-3 placing at a *national-level tournament in their respective category. An arm wrestler will also require at least 2 years of arm wrestling experience before being eligible to earn a purple belt.

The purple belt symbolizes a very capable arm wrestler who exhibits a level of skill and experience that places them at the elite level among their peers. Purple belts are also eligible to begin coaching lower-grade students after approval from Eastside Arm Wrestling.

*National-level competitions include Singapore Nationals or larger overseas competitions with only 2 countries involved.

Red Belt

Competitive Eastside arm wrestlers will receive this belt after placing top-3 at an *international-level tournament in their respective category.

​

The red belt symbolizes an exceptional arm wrestler who is head and shoulders above their peers. Red belts are extremely experienced and are very familiar with arm wrestling on both a practical and theoretical level. Arm wrestlers will require at least 3 years of arm wrestling experience to attain a red belt.

​

*International-level competitions include World Championships, regional championships, or Open tournaments that have at least 3 countries taking part.

Black Belt

Competitive Eastside arm wrestlers will receive this belt after placing top-3 in at least 3 *international-level tournaments in their respective category.

​

The black belt symbolizes an arm wrestler attaining a grasp of arm wrestling that far surpasses what most others can achieve. Black belts demonstrate extraordinary talent, discipline, and dedication to arm wrestling. Arm wrestlers will require at least 5 years of arm wrestling experience to be eligible for a black belt.

​

*International-level competitions include World Championships, regional championships, or Open tournaments that have at least 3 countries taking part.

**Winning an international-level competition automatically makes one eligible for a black belt promotion at the discretion of Eastside Arm Wrestling.
