Over Singapore’s 59th National Day weekend, two pullers from Team Singapore did the nation proud with a great performance over in neighboring Malaysia.

At the Gateway@KLIA2 event, Jeron Goh, 17, and Joshua Chen, 27, took home silver and bronze respectively in the Men’s Left Hand under-78 kg division on Saturday, 10th August.

It was an intense battle for the championship title between the two local boys and the top Malaysian contender, Iryan Azhar, who both a Malaysian National Champion in the 63 kg Seniors division, and IFA World Champion in the 63 kg Juniors division.

After a long and arduous battle, Jeron was knocked down to the losers’ bracket by Iryan, where he then faced team mate, Joshua in an intense toproll battle, which eventually went in favor of the younger puller.

Jeron then met Iryan again in the finals for a second chance at the top spot, but unfortunately was not able to take the win from the Malaysian athlete.

Both Singaporean arm wrestlers were exhausted after the long bracket, with Jeron even suffering a re-injury to his left arm after the intense battles. However, they remain in high spirits and will continue to fight on for the right hand tournament on day 2.
