The SEA CUP ruleset was created based on the pre-existing East vs West of the time.
Its aim is to get matches started as quickly as possible for optimal viewing pleasure.
Base Ruleset: East vs West Rules
-
Each match will be a best-of-five rounds.
-
The match will immediately stop once an athlete reaches three wins.
-
The starting side will be decided by a coin flip.
-
All slips go to the strap (unless the losing hand touches the pin pad or there is a parallel pin).
-
Small elbow hops are allowed as long as no advantage is gained.
-
A competitor’s elbow leaving the four sides of the pad will result in a foul.
-
Declining humerus in a neutral or losing position is a foul.
-
Any foul in a losing position is a loss (the losing position is defined as starting from the top of the peg to the pin pad).
-
Movement in the referee’s grip is a warning. Two warnings equal one foul.
-
Two fouls equal the loss of a round.
-
Pins can only happen on the winning side, pins in the center of the table (defined as the overlapping area between elbow pads) will result in a restart.
-
The starting cadence is just “Go.”
-
Loading and squeezing after hands are closed in the referee’s grip is allowed as long as the hands do not move off-center and the wrists are not bent.
